The President of the Economic, Social, and Environmental Council (CESE) and of the Union of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions of Africa (UCESA), Abdelkader Amara, was received in audience by the President of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
The meeting, which also brought together Marcelino Owono Edu, President of Equatorial Guinea’s National Council for Economic and Social Development, and Ghoulam Maichane, Morocco’s Ambassador to Malabo, along with senior officials from both councils, was held within the framework of institutional cooperation between the two bodies, according to a statement from the CESE.
During the audience, Amara stressed the strong and exceptional relations between Morocco and Equatorial Guinea, rooted in African solidarity, mutual respect, and shared perspectives on the continent’s key development challenges.
He also reaffirmed Morocco’s commitment – guided by the vision of King Mohammed VI – to regional integration, which remains a cornerstone of its African cooperation policy, as well as the CESE’s role in advancing citizen-centered sustainable development agendas.
For his part, President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo praised Morocco’s pioneering role in driving the structural transformation of African economies, describing the North African country as an inspiring model for sustainable and inclusive growth.
He also commended Morocco’s CESE for strengthening regional integration and for its support of Equatorial Guinea’s CNDES in joining the UCESA.
The Equatorial Guinean president further welcomed the prospects for cooperation between the two institutions to promote effective public policies addressing shared priorities, particularly in the areas of economic diversification and youth employment, the statement concluded.
