Rabat – Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) has engaged in a framework partnership agreement that seeks to connect academic research and public projects aimed at improving people’s lives.
The partnership, signed on Monday with the National Initiative for Human Development (CN-INDH) focuses on different areas, including UM6P’s efforts to deliver training modules in data science, AI, and predictive modeling to support decision-making within INDH programs.
The second axis will include the design and incubation of social engineering models, like entrepreneurship and the social and solidarity economy.
UM6P will also capitalize on its digital engineering expertise to develop solutions that facilitate the implementation and monitoring of INDH programs, as well as the production of educational capsules and videos on human development themes.
A joint statement on the agreement stated that the partnership seeks to combine INDH’s territorial presence with UM6P’s academic expertise to place “science and innovation at the service of measurable social impact.”
The partnership also aims to contribute to “more inclusive, efficient, and knowledge-based public policies,” the statement concluded.
The INDH project seeks to assist Morocco’s government in contributing to accountability and transparency of decisions, as well as to enhance the use of social and economic infrastructure in the best interest of vulnerable communities.
The project’s goal is to help alleviate extreme vulnerability as well as strengthen institutional capacity to tackle and address challenges, including poverty in rural areas.
In September, INDH said over 268,000 children aged 4 and 5 in rural Morocco benefited from preschool enrollment through a childhood development program co-financed by the World Bank.
The institution also shared figures on job creation for education. It says that its program created over 9,500 jobs for preschool educators and referred more than 500,000 women and children to health services through community relays.
Additionally, INDH produced a social and behavioral change campaign shared with 13.5 million to raise awareness about the importance of a child’s first 1,000 days of life.
