Rabat – Saudi football giants Al Hilal have officially announced the contract extension of Moroccan star Yassine Bounou.

Al Hilal announced on Thursday that the extension will keep Bounou at the Saudi club until 2028.

“I’m very happy to renew my contract with the club. I hope to give my best, God willing, so we can make our fans proud. Dima Hilal [Hilal forever],” Bounou said.

Al Hilal continues to be satisfied with Bounou’s performances. He was featured in more than 90 matches for the Saudi Pro League champions, and has conceded 85 goals.

In 2024, Bounou was named the Best Goalkeeper in the Saudi Pro League for the 2023-2024 season.

In August 2023, the Atlas Lion joined Al Hilal for three seasons until 2026. He moved to the Saudi league after a brilliant career in La Liga with Sevilla FC.

The Atlas Lion is best known for his heroic performances during the 2022 World Cup with Morocco in Qatar.

During the competition, the national team was the first Arab and African squad to reach the semifinals of the global tournament. Bounou’s contributions were crucial in helping Morocco advance to critical stages in the tournament.

His performances earned him several “Man of the Match” trophies during the 2022 World Cup

Most recently,  Bounou has been ranked fifth in the 2025 Ballon d’Or Yachin Trophy, which honors the world’s best goalkeepers.
