Mohammedia – Archimedia Group hosted on Thursday the first edition of the Moroccan Interior Design Awards (MIDA) at Casablanca’s High Institute of Fine Arts, revealing 73 nominated projects before an audience of renowned Moroccan architects and designers.

The event celebrated Morocco’s growing creative scene, bringing together leading names in interior design and architecture. The jury featured designer Sacha Lakic as an honorary juror, alongside Zineb Achraf, Zahia Benbdjlil, Yasmine Bennani, Reda Bouamerani, Younes Duret, Fouad Lahlo, and Sofia Sebti.

They were tasked with selecting standout works among 122 submitted projects, following over 250 initial registrations for this first national competition.

The MIDA initiative, organized by Archimedia, aims to recognize excellence in interior architecture and design in Morocco. Supported by Roche Bobois Maroc as its official sponsor, the event emphasized collaboration between Moroccan creativity and international design innovation.

A jury celebrating Moroccan talent

Although not physically present, the president of the jury addressed attendees through a recorded video message, expressing admiration for the exceptional quality of submissions and acknowledging the difficulty of selecting finalists. He described the evening as a tribute to “the passion and excellence driving Morocco’s creative community.”

Designer Sacha Lakic spoke about his appreciation for the “energy and creativity” he continues to find in Morocco. He highlighted that the country’s next generation of designers shows “great sensitivity, innovation, and emotional depth” through their projects.

The event gathered prominent figures from across Morocco’s design ecosystem, including academics, professionals, and representatives of design schools such as ArtCom Sup.

The jury members praised MIDA’s mission of shining a spotlight on both established names and emerging talent shaping the future of Moroccan design.

73 nominations announced across 16 categories

The evening revealed the 73 nominated projects spanning 16 categories, including hospitality, wellness, commercial architecture, home design, lighting concepts, small spaces, and student projects.

The selected works reflect the country’s diverse architectural styles and creative innovation, from functional minimalism to modern Moroccan reinterpretations.

The full list of nominees will be available online from October 20, 2025, on the MIDA website, where the public will also be invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award.

This digital engagement aims to bring interior design closer to the public and encourage wider appreciation of architectural spaces in everyday life.

According to Archimedia’s organizers, the final winners will be announced during a special ceremony in December 2025, where one winner per category will be crowned.

A new platform for Moroccan design

Archimedia Group’s ultimate ambition is to position the Moroccan Interior Design Awards as a long-term platform to promote innovation and raise professional standards in the country’s design sector. By connecting architects, decorators, and students, MIDA aims to highlight the creative energy transforming Morocco’s interior spaces.

The group’s founder closed the evening by thanking all participants, sponsors, and schools who contributed to the success of this initiative. MIDA will not only reward talent but also inspire a growing national conversation around the value of good design in Moroccan daily life, she concluded.
