Rabat – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced that the group stage draw for the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup will take place on Monday, November 3.
The event will be held in the SuperSport studios in Johannesburg, South Africa, and streamed live on CAF’s digital platforms.
Morocco’s RS Berkane will be part of the Confederation Cup draw after winning the title last season. The team also played in the CAF Super Cup but lost 1-0 to Egypt’s Pyramids, who had claimed the Champions League title for the first time in their history.
CAF also confirmed the schedule for the second-leg matches of the Round of 32 in both competitions.
In the Champions League, RS Berkane will travel to Libya to face Al Ahli Tripoli on Wednesday, October 26, at the 11 June Stadium in Libya for their first leg of their Champions League qualifier.
AS FAR will take on Hafia FC of Guinea in Rabat on Saturday, October 25, for the second leg of their qualifier. The first leg ended in a 1-1 draw in Mali.
In the Confederation Cup, Wydad Casablanca will host Asante Kotoko of Ghana in the first leg of their Confederation Cup qualifier on Friday, October 23 in Casablanca.
Olympic Safi, who secured a 2-0 win in the first leg, will visit Tunisia to face Stade Tunisien on Saturday, October 25, aiming to seal their spot in the group stage.
The group stage in both tournaments will feature 16 teams, divided into four groups of four. Teams will be placed into pots based on CAF’s club rankings.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout rounds, with another draw to determine matchups.
CAF’s club competitions remain the most prestigious in African football, with the Champions League dating back to 1964 and the Confederation Cup launched in 2004. Winners of each tournament qualify for the CAF Super Cup.
