Rabat – Abdellatif Hammouchi, Director General of National Security and Territorial Surveillance (DGST), presided on Tuesday evening over the annual excellence ceremony at Rabat’s Mohammed V Theater.
The event coincided this year with the commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Morocco’s Independence.
Organized by the Mohammed VI Foundation for Social Affairs of National Security Personnel, the ceremony brought together active officers, retirees, and police families for an evening dedicated to academic achievement, artistic talent, and recognition of dedicated service.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the event convened security officials from the DGSN and the DGST, alongside retired personnel, children and orphans of police officers, and representatives of partner institutions, including universities, service providers, and public establishments.
The ceremony upheld a longstanding tradition that celebrates children and orphans of National Security personnel who achieved outstanding academic results, particularly those who earned top marks in the 2024-2025 baccalaureate exams.
Students received scholarships and financial prizes designed to support their transition into higher education.
Among the incentives offered is a university scholarship of MAD 50,000 ($5000), paid in annual installments of MAD 10,000 ($1000). Twenty-five students from police families, already enrolled in higher education, benefited from this program.
Another financial package, ranging from MAD 1,000 ($100) to MAD 8,000 ($800) was awarded to students who excelled in the previous academic year. Sixty-eight students received their awards during the ceremony, while 102 others will be recognized during upcoming regional events.
The event also recognized artistic and athletic achievements within the police community. The Laayoune prefecture’s futsal team, winners of the annual tournament, was honored alongside the teams that placed second and third.
Police officers who secured top positions at the Arab Cross-Country Championship held in Iraq were similarly recognized with financial and material awards.
For the first time, the ceremony included a tribute to retired national security officers aged over 80, who received certificates and honorary gifts.
The ceremony’s artistic component spotlighted works created by police personnel. Six officers received awards in the visual arts competition, which featured 52 paintings submitted by 37 participants.
The event is part of the Foundation’s wider mission to provide comprehensive social support and health services to members of the security community.
