Rabat — Morocco’s Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) announced a series of new appointments to leadership positions across its regional services on Tuesday.
The changes affect police operations in eight cities, namely Mrirt, Fez, El Hajeb, Berrechid, Nador, Oujda, Rabat, and Casablanca.
DGSN Director General Abdellatif Hammouchi approved the appointments, which the agency says form part of an ongoing strategy to rotate leadership positions and create opportunities for both experienced and younger talent to take on security management roles.
New appointments span multiple departments
The reshuffle includes several key positions. Officials appointed a deputy chief for the regional security zone in El Hajeb and named a new head of the regional police station in Mrirt.
The changes also bring new leaders to the regional and provincial documentation and identity card services in Rabat and Nador.
Additional appointments place security officials in charge of various specialized units.
These include a head of the general intelligence brigade in Fez, a chief of the urban traffic unit in Berrechid, a head of the regional explosives brigade under the Casablanca police prefecture, and a chief of the road traffic brigade in Oujda.
A focus on professional standards and service quality
The DGSN stressed that it selected appointees based on their demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and operational experience.
The national security body says these leadership changes will help implement its new security strategy more effectively.
This strategy focuses on serving citizens by enhancing their sense of security, improving the quality of police services, refining communication approaches, and promoting greater institutional transparency within security services.
The appointments represent the latest step in the DGSN’s broader effort to modernize its leadership structure and adapt to evolving security challenges across Morocco.
