Rabat — Morocco’s rising star Othmane Maamma won CAF Men’s Young Player of the Year tonight, adding yet another prestigious honor to the country’s growing football résumé.
Maama, already celebrated as a U20 World Champion, took the stage to accept the award, delivering a brief but heartfelt speech.
In a speech he delivered following the announcement, he thanked his U20 national teammates for their solidarity throughout an exceptional year, as well as coach Saïd Ouahbi, whose leadership has been widely credited with shaping one of Morocco’s strongest youth squads in recent memory.
The young midfielder also paid tribute to his parents, acknowledging their “constant support” as the foundation of his progress.
Maama’s recognition by CAF reflects not only his individual talent but also the momentum Moroccan football has built across categories — from academies to senior national teams.
His award marks another proud moment for the North African country as it cements its place as Africa’s leading football nation.
