After qualifying for the 2026 World Cup – a historic first – Jordan are one of the favorites to progress onto the knockout stages.
Jamal Sellami, Jordan’s head coach, will face the challenge of fielding a backline without its veteran leader Yazan Al-Arab, who’s staying with FC Seoul during this tournament.
Yazan Al-Naimat, who sustained a minor injury before the start of Jordan’s training camp, is expected to be fully fit for the match. Mahmoud Al Mardi and Ali Alwan, who both missed Jordan’s last training camp in Tunisia due to injury, are also ready to feature.
Jordan’s best finish at the Arab Cup was a semi-final appearance in 1998.

The UAE, led by coach Cosmin Olaroiu, look to bounce back in the Arab Cup after a dramatic end to their World Cup qualifying hopes.
In their matchup against Iraq in November, competing for a spot in the intercontinental playoffs, Olaroiu’s team conceded a penalty goal in the 17th minute of added time of the return leg, knocking them out in heartbreaking fashion.
In a press conference yesterday, Olaroiu noted the challenge that awaits his team.
“Tomorrow’s match will be difficult against a strong team,” the Romanian manager said. “The Jordanian team plays high-quality football, and it’s enjoyable to play against them. Matches like these always carry a lot of pressure, but I hope my team can overcome the pressure and perform at its best.”
