Rabat – Morocco is gaining ground in a region undergoing one of the fastest transformations in energy-related skills worldwide, driven by the global rise of clean-technology jobs.

As an associate member of the International Energy Agency (IEA), the country is closely aligned with the sector’s accelerated evolution.

The newly released World Energy Employment 2025 report confirms a structural shift: the global energy economy is reorganizing around clean technologies.

Energy-sector jobs have climbed to 67 million workers, an increase of 4.3 million compared to pre-pandemic levels. Solar photovoltaic activity remains the strongest engine of this growth, generating more than one million net jobs in just three years.

A region experiencing rapid skill development

The report draws attention to a particularly striking trend across North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean. From 2012 to 2021, the number of vocational-training graduates specializing in energy rose by 64% across Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.

This surge outpaces many more industrialized regions, where energy-sector programs often struggle to attract new learners.

This momentum is reinforced by the rapid expansion of technical-training systems in the region.

The report notes that skills development has become a strategic priority, especially as demand increases for qualified technicians in solar installations, electrical networks, and battery technologies.

Morocco strengthens its international position

In this landscape of accelerated change, Morocco’s status as an IEA Association Country further anchors its role in global energy policy discussions.

Its inclusion in the group reflects recognition of its participation in international monitoring, analysis and long-term planning efforts.

As clean-energy industries expand and new professions take shape, Morocco stands out as a country advancing within global trends while operating in one of the world’s most dynamic regional hubs for emerging energy skills.
