Rabat – Provinces across Morocco will witness strong winds on Friday, a statement from the General Directorate of Meteorology has said.
The weather office said wind will reach 90 to 100 kilometers per hour on Friday night in the provinces of El Jadida, Safi, Sidi Bennour, Azilal, Al Haouz, Midelt, Chichaoua, and Essaouira.
Meanwhile, wind ranging from 75 to 90 kilometers per hour is expected in the provinces of Youssoufia, Berrechid, Figuig, Jerada, and Oujda Angad.
The same weather will hit Taourirt, El Kelaa Sraghna, Marrakech, Rehmana, Nouaceur, Casablanca, Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanne, Chtouka Ait Baha, Sidi Ifni, and Taroudant.
Morocco has been witnessing rainy weeks since mid-November, giving the country a ray of hope after at least six years of drought.
Farmers and officials have expressed strong positive views on the recent rainfall, emphasizing its contribution to the current agricultural season and dam water levels.
Earlier this week, the Ministry of Equipment said water inflows reached 1.34 billion cubic meters, while 80.2 million cubic meters were released into the sea.
As of Monday, the overall dam filling rate in Morocco reached 48%. Available water resources are estimated at 6.37 billion cubic meters, with all river basins in Morocco recording significant water inflows in recent weeks.
Total water inflows reached 1.77 billion cubic meters since September 1.
Inflows recorded since December 12 amounted to 1.34 billion cubic meters, representing about 76% of the total inflows.
