Rabat – UN Tourism data published today placed Morocco at the forefront of Africa’s tourism recovery in 2025.

The continent saw 81 million visitors last year, a 8% increase compared to a year earlier. Strong results were documented mainly in North Africa, with an 100% increase.

The tourism data has identified Morocco as the most popular destination with positive results, among other world-renowned locations like Brazil and Egypt.

Morocco reported solid growth in arrivals during the first 10 to 12 months of last year, with 19% increase compared to 2024. This means Morocco continues to outpace Egypt, whose travel arrivals increased by 17%.

The UN tourism website quoted its Secretary-General Shaikha Alnuwais, who said that travel demand “remained high throughout 2025, despite high inflation in tourism services and uncertainty from geopolitical tensions.”

Alnuwais expects this positive trend to continue into 2026, as the global economy is expected “to remain steady and destinations still lagging behind pre-pandemic levels fully recover.”

Morocco welcomed 19.8 million tourists in 2025, a 14% increase compared to the number recorded a year earlier.

The Ministry of Tourism described the achievement as a record-breaking performance that confirms the strong upward momentum in Morocco’s hospitality industry.

For the ministry, this marks a new chapter in the country’s development of the vital sector as Morocco is approaching, for the first time, the threshold of 20 million tourists.

Morocco also reported a record tourism revenue, which reached MAD 124 billion by the end of November 2025. This performance reflects an increase of 19% compared to 2024.
