Agadir – The Moroccan economist Mohamed H’Midouche was honored on Tuesday in Dakar following his designation at the 7th edition of the Financial Afrik Awards in Banjul as Economist of Africa for 2025-2026.
The Senegal-Morocco Circle of Friendship and Fraternity (CESEMAF) organized a reception in his honor, celebrating H’Midouche’s remarkable career and his dedication to advancing economic and social development across Africa.
The gathering included diplomats, government officials, business leaders, and CESEMAF members, highlighting the organization’s active role in fostering connections across the continent.
Secretary General, Mohamed Lahlou explained that through this tribute, CESEMAF sought to recognize not only the international recognition granted to H’Midouche but also his contributions to African development and regional cooperation,
“This gathering was a powerful expression of recognition and fraternity, demonstrating CESEMAF’s ability to bring together committed individuals around a shared vision of a united, integrated, and forward-looking Africa,” Lahlou said.
He added that the Circle has since its creation worked to reinforce historical, economic, and human ties between Senegal, Morocco, and their partners in a spirit of African solidarity and cooperation.
The Economist of Africa Prize is awarded by an independent jury. It acknowledges more than forty years of professional dedication, combining field experience, institutional leadership, and strategic insight.
H’Midouche has been deeply involved in shaping development policies throughout his career, particularly during his tenure at the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, where he held senior positions and collaborated directly with African governments, regional bodies, and private sector actors.
The 2025-2026 award was selected from four shortlisted candidates, nominated by Financial Afrik magazine, following a rigorous and independent selection process.
As a founding member of CESEMAF and former regional representative of the AfDB in Senegal, H’Midouche is widely recognized as a leading authority in African economic development.
With over four decades of experience, he has devoted his career to designing and implementing public policies, promoting regional integration, and financing critical infrastructure projects.
