Moroccan international Abde Ezzalzouli has given an honest update on his physical condition, admitting he still feels the effects of his recent AFCON campaign while balancing club responsibilities with Real Betis.
Speaking to the club’s official website after Betis secured a place in the UEFA Europa League round of 16, Ezzalzouli talked about the team’s performance and his own condition. He mentioned how important it was for the squad to reach this stage of the competition.
“We had to be among the top eight. Our goal was clear: to go out and win to avoid playing two additional matches, and to be more ready for the league and cup competitions,” he said.
Ezzalzouli also addressed his post-AFCON recovery, combining optimism with realism about his current fitness level.
“In truth, I feel very good. I try to work daily to be 100% and always available to the coach. It’s true that I still feel some fatigue after the Africa Cup, but I work every day to reach full fitness,” he explained.

The winger made a huge impact on Betis’s European run, scoring the decisive goal in the match that clinched their spot in the next round. That makes it three goals for him in the Europa League this season, proving he’s really finding his feet on the big European stage.
Ez Abde’s comments about lingering post-AFCON fatigue should soon be ancient history. The 24-year-old has proven he’s back at full sharpness, juggling a busy schedule between the domestic league and European fixtures.
His coach Manuel Pellegrini knows that Ezzalzouli is a difference-maker. His latest goal was a perfectly timed boost right before a packed schedule, including a Liga clash with Valencia this weekend and a massive Copa del Rey quarter-final against Atlético Madrid next Thursday.
