Marrakech – The Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) hosted on Tuesday a high-level event focused on artificial intelligence and its role in the digital transformation of industry and health sectors.
The day’s central outcome was the signing of the Jazari Industrie X.0 convention, a formal agreement linking academic research, public institutions, and industrial actors across Morocco.
Two cabinet members attended the ceremony. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Minister Delegate for Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, and Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Commerce, signed the convention alongside UEMF President Mostapha Bousmina.
Three other university presidents also participated: Mustapha Ijjaali of Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez, Aboubakr Bouayad of Moulay Ismail University in Meknes, and Amine Bensaid of Al Akhawyn University in Ifrane.
The convention falls within Morocco’s national “AI Made in Morocco” program, formally launched in January. That initiative targets a 100-billion-dirham contribution to GDP by 2030 and aims to create 50,000 AI-related jobs through a national network of Jazari Institutes serving as regional centers of excellence in artificial intelligence.
The Jazari Industrie X.0 agreement is specifically designed to accelerate technology transfer from university research into industrial applications.
It targets the development of integrated value chains running from fundamental research through to large-scale industrial deployment. The agreement also commits to deepening collaboration among universities, startups, industrialists, and investors.
The event was organized jointly by UEMF and the two sponsoring ministries, with participation from multiple institutional and industrial stakeholders. Beyond the signing ceremony, attendees toured the university campus and visited its scientific infrastructure, technological platforms, and research centers dedicated to advanced technologies.
AI as an accelerator of transformation
Two thematic panels structured the broader discussions. The first addressed technology transfer, AI, and value creation within industrial supply chains.
Participants explored the conditions required to move from academic output to industrial-scale production, including research valorization mechanisms, technology readiness levels, and university-industry interfaces. AI’s role as an accelerator of industrial process transformation was a central focus.
The second panel turned to the health industries sector. Discussions covered how AI is transforming the full health value chain, from biomedical and pharmaceutical research through to patient care delivery.
Participants also examined the regulatory, ethical, and technological challenges involved in deploying AI solutions within medical and industrial settings.
The Jazari Industrie X.0 signing in Fez follows the January establishment of JAZARI Root in Rabat, the national coordinating hub of the Jazari network. That network is planned to expand across all 12 Moroccan regions, with each institute aligned to regional academic strengths and economic priorities.
UEMF described the event as part of its role as an academic and scientific platform in Morocco’s technological transformation, and as a concrete step toward building a national AI ecosystem with measurable economic and social impact.
