Rabat – Morocco has fixed the number of pilgrims for the 1447H Hajj season at 34,000, with authorities also announcing a reduction in costs and a series of measures aimed at improving organization and support services.

The Minister of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, Ahmed Toufiq, told lawmakers in the House of Representatives on Monday that 22,200 pilgrims will travel under the official government-run system, while 11,800 others will go through approved travel agencies.

He said the cost for pilgrims under the official arrangement now stands at MAD 63,121 ($6,837), a decrease of MAD 3,000 ($324) compared with last year.

The ministry has worked with institutions involved in the Royal Commission for Hajj to tighten coordination across all stages of the pilgrimage, Toufiq said, adding that authorities have also introduced preparatory sessions for pilgrims, designed to clarify procedures and practical requirements before departure.

Public awareness campaigns have expanded through mosques and national media outlets, alongside the distribution of practical guides covering each phase of the journey.

The ministry has also finalized the list of supervisors and accompanying staff, with a ratio of one supervisor for every 49 pilgrims. A structured transport plan has been set in place to organize movement during the pilgrimage.

Pilgrims will receive a digital identification card containing personal and logistical information intended to ease procedures throughout their stay.

On international coordination, Toufiq said Morocco reached a protocol with Saudi counterparts during the Hajj and Umrah Services Conference and Exhibition. He noted that Saudi officials expressed appreciation for the Moroccan delegation and commended its organizational standards in previous seasons.
