Rabat – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) has launched a newly upgraded Command and Coordination Center at the Rabat Police Prefecture, introducing a modern facility designed to improve emergency response, traffic management, and urban surveillance.
The new center, which began operating on Monday, replaces the previous command room after a comprehensive modernization project. It now serves as a next-generation operational hub that oversees police field operations, emergency patrols, traffic management, and the city’s camera surveillance system.
One of the project’s main upgrades is its connection to Rabat’s urban surveillance network, which includes more than 1,400 high-definition cameras installed across the city in partnership with the Rabat-Sale-Kenitra regional authorities.
The center has also been equipped with upgraded communication and data transmission systems that the national police use.
The facility brings several key police services together under one roof. It monitors the city’s surveillance cameras, supports traffic and mobility management, and handles emergency calls made through Morocco’s police hotline (19). This allows operators to coordinate responses from a single integrated platform.
The command center includes a multi-purpose operations room where trained operators receive emergency calls 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A new digital platform allows the processing of several calls at the same time, while information provided by callers is immediately recorded and forwarded to the dispatch room responsible for sending police patrols to the scene.

The upgraded facility also houses a dedicated data center built according to modern cybersecurity standards. It is equipped with systems capable of securely storing, retrieving, and processing digital information in real time to support police operations and other public security services.
In addition, the center includes a crisis management unit designed to coordinate responses during emergencies. The unit is connected to police databases and communication systems, which allow it to monitor situations and support decision-making during exceptional security events.
The Rabat Command and Coordination Center was first established in 2016 as Morocco’s first facility dedicated to managing emergency police patrols. After 10 years of operation, authorities decided to carry out a full modernization in 2026 to integrate advanced surveillance, communications, and data management technologies.
The upgrade reflects Morocco’s broader efforts to modernize public security infrastructure as cities become increasingly connected. Integrating surveillance cameras, emergency call handling, dispatch systems, and data management into a single platform can help reduce response times and improve coordination between police units.
The project also comes as Rabat continues investing in smart city technologies ahead of major international events that Morocco is expected to host in the coming years.
