Rabat – The Moroccan Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs has communicated a set of new organizational measures adopted by the competent authorities in Saudi Arabia to regulate the performance of the Hajj pilgrimage for the 1447H season.

In an official statement, the ministry indicated that the updated framework stipulates that Hajj will only be permitted for individuals holding an official authorization allowing them to perform the pilgrimage. It also requires pilgrims arriving from outside Saudi Arabia to possess a valid Hajj visa, which is necessary to obtain an activated “Nusuk” card.

The Saudi authorities have also reinforced control procedures, including the intensification of screening checkpoints and restricting access to the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the holy sites exclusively to pilgrims carrying a valid “Nusuk” card.

According to the same measures, performing Hajj rituals under any visa type other than the official Hajj visa is strictly prohibited.

The Moroccan ministry highlighted that these measures are part of efforts to better organize the pilgrimage process and ensure compliance with the regulatory framework established by Saudi authorities for the safe and orderly conduct of the Hajj season.

Morocco is set to officially launch the “Makkah Route” initiative at Rabat-Salé Airport on Monday, May 4, expanding the program after its successful implementation at Casablanca’s Mohammed V Airport.

The rollout marks a further step in facilitating Hajj travel procedures, with the service now operating through both Rabat and Casablanca as key departure hubs. Around 17,000 Moroccan pilgrims are expected to benefit from the initiative this season via the two airports, representing half of the national quota of 34,000 pilgrims.

The first flight operating under the “Makkah Route” from Casablanca is scheduled for May 7, signaling the beginning of the program’s expanded phase for the current Hajj season.
