Wojciech Szczęsny has reportedly turned down a tempting offer from a major Spanish club, choosing instead to continue his journey with FC Barcelona, where he remains a key figure on and off the pitch.
At 36 years old, the Polish goalkeeper is Barcelona’s second choice behind Joan García. According to mundo deportivo, a major Spanish club has extended him an offer to be their first-choice keeper next season. Yet the Polish is said to prefer to stay in Barcelona, where he feels both relaxed and settled.
Szczesny arrived at the Catalan club in 2024. Following a serious injury to Ter Stegen, Barcelona was left with no choice but to immediately bring in an experienced, capable replacement keeper
Little did they know that the Polish goalkeeper would go on to become a leader both on and off the pitch, a mentor for the new signing García, and a world class between the posts.
Since his arrival, Szczesny has managed to secure 2 Spanish Super Cups, 1 La Liga title — with one within touching distance — and Copa del Rey.
He is not done yet in Barcelona. His contract runs until summer 2027, and the veteran goalkeeper is apparently aiming to add more silverware to his already impressive career.
