Fez – A new digital platform is offering citizens a clearer and more direct view of how public projects are designed, managed, and delivered, marking a step toward more transparent and accountable governance.
Launched by public institutions within the framework of open government, the interactive observatory of the Ministry of Equipment and Water provides centralized access to detailed and structured information on projects across provinces and municipalities.
It brings together data that was previously scattered across different sources, presenting it in a single, accessible interface.
Users of the platform can track projects at every stage of their lifecycle, from planning to completion. It offers detailed insights into timelines, execution phases, and geographic distribution, allowing citizens to follow progress in real time and understand where and how public resources are being used.
Presenting the initiative, Nizar Baraka described it in an interview with MWN as “a smart, interactive platform that allows all citizens to see what projects exist within their province and municipality, including those underway, those in progress, and those planned, along with their timeframes.”
The observatory compiles around 400 data points, ensuring a comprehensive and regularly updated flow of information.
Beyond simple data accessibility
This level of detail provides a clearer picture of project implementation, helping to reduce information gaps and strengthen public understanding of development efforts at both local and national levels.
Beyond data access, the platform introduces a more open and participatory approach to governance.
It creates a channel for interaction between citizens and institutions, allowing users to raise questions, submit feedback, and engage with ongoing public initiatives.
This interactive dimension is intended to make public action more visible and easier to follow.
The initiative also aims to reinforce accountability by placing institutional performance under closer public scrutiny.
By making progress and outcomes transparent, it encourages higher standards in project execution and management.
It also opens the way for citizens to take a more active role in evaluating public action.
Officials see the platform as a practical tool to support better decision-making and more responsive governance.
By aligning public action more closely with citizens’ expectations, it is expected to contribute to more coherent and inclusive development policies.
In the longer term, the observatory is designed to support integrated and sustainable development by improving the flow of information between institutions and the public.
With clearer data and stronger engagement, it sets the foundation for a governance model that is more transparent, more accountable, and more closely connected to realities on the ground.
