There is growing optimism inside Paris Saint-Germain that Achraf Hakimi could be fit in time for the UEFA Champions League final on May 30.
The Moroccan star has been sidelined since suffering a thigh injury during PSG’s incredible 5-4 semi-final first-leg victory against Bayern Munich at the end of April. The injury forced him to miss the return leg in Germany, where PSG secured qualification for a second straight Champions League final after eliminating Bayern 6-5 on aggregate.
At the time, PSG confirmed Hakimi would be unavailable for “the next few weeks” after medical examinations revealed damage to his right thigh. Several reports later described the issue as a hamstring tear, creating fears he could miss the final entirely.
But as of today, confidence around the club has started to improve.
According to reports close to PSG, the current expectation is that Hakimi still has a realistic chance of recovering before the Champions League final in Budapest on May 30, where the French side will face Arsenal FC.
His potential return would be massive for Luis Enrique’s side.
Hakimi has once again been one of PSG’s most important players this season, offering constant attacking width and energy down the right side. Before the injury, he had been an important player throughout the Champions League campaign and even provided an assist in the unforgettable first leg against Bayern.
His absence was felt in Munich despite PSG managing to qualify. The Morocco international is widely considered one of the best attacking full-backs in world football, and his pace and movement are central to PSG’s system.
For now, the club is continuing to monitor his recovery carefully, with no official return date announced yet. The main objective remains having him available for the final at the end of the month.
The situation is also being closely watched in Morocco ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where Hakimi is expected to play a leading role for the Atlas Lions.
