Rabat – Robert Lewandowski is considering a move away from elite European football after Barcelona were crowned La Liga champions on Sunday, according to Mundo Deportivo, citing Eleven Sports.
The 37-year-old striker told the Polish channel Eleven Sports that he hasn’t made a final decision yet and is looking at different options for next season.
The update came during the celebrations after Barcelona beat Real Madrid 2-0 in El Clásico. Even though the team is riding high, Lewandowski admitted he is thinking about his future and could potentially join a lower-level league to enjoy the final years of his career.
“I don’t know what I’m going to do yet. I just found out that I have 51 days left on my contract, so I still have time,” the Polish striker explained after winning the La Liga title.
Lewandowski insists he is still in great shape, but he is now open to a new direction in a less demanding league.
“There could be the option of going to a lower-level league. I’m almost 38, but physically I feel good and I’m considering it,” he stated.
The Polish striker also suggested that, at this point in his career, his personal life and feelings are becoming more important than the competition: “I have to consider the possibility that maybe this is the time to play and enjoy life,”
Lewandowski clarified that his next move isn’t set in stone just yet, noting that he plans to review all his options before committing.
“I’ll listen to a few more offers and then I’ll make a decision,” he concluded.
