Rabat – Morocco’s Public Prosecutor’s Office has introduced a new system that will allow citizens to receive updates on the status of their complaints through SMS and email.
People who file complaints will now be automatically informed when a case is closed or archived, without needing to visit a court or legal office. The notifications will be sent directly to the phone number or email address provided in the complaint.
The Public Prosecutor’s Office said the goal of this change is to make the justice system more transparent and easier to access. It also aims to improve communication between citizens and judicial authorities.
Previously, many complainants had to go to court in person to learn updates about their cases. Officials say the new system will save time and reduce unnecessary travel.
To support the new approach, citizens will be asked to provide their contact details when submitting complaints. Police officers and court staff will also be instructed to carefully record this information in official case files.
Paper notifications will still be used, but only in cases where no phone number or email is available.
According to the directive, this reform is part of a wider plan to modernize Morocco’s justice system and introduce more digital services. The aim is to make procedures faster, more efficient, and more user-friendly for the public.
Morocco announced in recent years efforts to modernize public services and move toward more digital administration. Authorities are trying to make administrative services faster and more accessible, but challenges remain, especially in ensuring that all citizens have reliable access to digital tools and that the system is fully implemented across different courts and regions.
