Agadir – Morocco launched on Tuesday the first edition of the Inclusive Employment Forum in Sale, aiming to promote the professional integration of people with disabilities and advance equal access to job opportunities across the country.
The forum was organized by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Morocco and the Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion foundation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the State Secretariat in charge of Social Integration.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the event aligns with Morocco’s broader efforts to position inclusion as a concrete driver of economic value and job creation, in line with royal vision of calling for improved rights and living conditions for people with disabilities.
It is supported by the “Partnerships for Employment” program (PPE II), which is being implemented jointly with GIZ Morocco as part of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (BMZ) “Decent Work for a Just Transition” initiative, the ministry added.
Speaking at the launch ceremony, Industry and Trade Minister Ryad Mezzour described the forum as a key milestone in translating inclusion into tangible practices within Moroccan businesses.
The presence of committed companies, skilled individuals with disabilities, and engaged partners signals a shift from awareness-raising to concrete action, the minister argued.
He also called on Moroccan companies to actively join the national effort to expand inclusive hiring practices, expressing confidence in the private sector’s commitment to social responsibility.
Abdeljabbar Rachidi, the ministry’s Secretary of State for Social Integration, said the forum reinforces Morocco’s ongoing national momentum toward greater social and professional inclusion.
He commended the collaboration between public institutions and international partners, particularly the sustained contributions of Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion in advancing inclusive policies.
The forum brought together a wide range of stakeholders, including businesses, public institutions, civil society organizations, and employment actors. It also provided a platform for young Moroccan talents with disabilities to connect directly with employers, participate in job interviews, and benefit from coaching and career guidance sessions.
A key highlight of Tuesday’s event was the signing of a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the State Secretariat in charge of Social Integration, and Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion.
According to the ministry, the agreement aims to support Moroccan companies in adapting recruitment and human resource management practices to foster more inclusive and competitive work environments.
