Rabat – Moroccan defender Achraf Hakimi has credited Paris Saint-Germain with transforming his mindset and making him a better player.
The 27-year-old player emphasized that the mental shift by manager Luis Enrique has unified the squad ahead of their highly anticipated Champions League final clash against Arsenal.
Speaking to SkyNews about the Champions League final between PSG and Arsenal, the Moroccan international said: “It’s wonderful to reach the second consecutive final, it wasn’t an easy journey. We’ll have to stay focused because Arsenal is a very strong team.”
The highly anticipated clash will take place on Saturday, May 30, at the Puskás Aréna in Budapest, with both teams eager to clinch the trophy.
Hakimi praised the manager’s impact on the squad’s philosophy since taking over. Highlighting this psychological shift, the defender noted: “He [Luis Enrique] changed everything at PSG. Since his arrival three years ago, I think everyone’s mindset has shifted, especially from a mental standpoint”
Discussing the team’s current work ethic and collective mindset, he added: “We are now a team where everyone plays for the exact same goal, we are like a family, fighting for one another. When we act as a unified team and do everything together, everything becomes easier. The coach always says that everyone must attack and everyone must defend.”
The Moroccan defender also took a moment to acknowledge Kvaratskhelia’s vital role in the team: “He’s had an incredible season and has become a key player for us.”
Hakimi concluded by congratulating his former club, Inter Milan, on securing the Serie A title, stating: “I’m very happy for them, I hope they continue like this.”
