Casablanca — Morocco’s airports received 12,336,962 commercial passengers by the end of April 2026, up 9.7% compared with the same period last year, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).
The increase was mainly driven by international traffic, which continued to dominate passenger flows through Morocco’s airports. International flights carried 11,067,321 passengers during the first four months of the year, a rise of 9.54%. Domestic flights also grew, reaching 1,269,641 passengers, up 11.10%.
Casablanca’s Mohammed V airport remained the country’s main air hub. It welcomed 3,756,740 passengers by the end of April, marking a 12.6% increase compared with the same period in 2025. The airport alone represented more than 30% of Morocco’s total passenger traffic.
Most other airports also posted strong growth. Beni Mellal recorded the highest increase, with traffic up 27.06%. Errachidia followed with an 18.53% rise, while Rabat Sale grew by 13.48%. Tanger Ibn Batouta saw traffic increase by 11.5%, Nador El Aroui by 11.29%, Marrakech Menara by 10.81%, and Agadir Al Massira by 10.27%.
The growth in international traffic covered all geographical markets except the Middle and Far East, where passenger numbers fell by 4.62%. Europe, which accounts for more than 80% of Morocco’s international air traffic, rose by 9.64%.
Other markets recorded stronger growth rates. Traffic with Africa increased by 19.61%, while North America rose by 21.98%. The Maghreb market grew by 13.65%. South America posted the sharpest rise, with traffic up 41.24%.
Aircraft movements also increased. ONDA said Moroccan airports recorded 91,128 arriving and departing flights by the end of April 2026, up 10.35% compared with the same period in 2025.
Freight traffic also moved upward. Air cargo reached more than 39,515 tons at the end of April 2026, compared with 35,334 tons a year earlier, an increase of 11.83%.
