After a convincing season in Greece, Panathinaikos have decided to make Anas Zaroury’s stay permanent, activating the purchase option included in his loan from French side RC Lens, as they view him as a long-term part of their project.
Following a season filled with impactful and consistent performances, Panathinaikos had little choice but to activate Zaroury’s purchase option. The Moroccan winger managed to quickly earn the technical staff’s trust. Faced with his impressive displays, they made sure to turn the temporary deal into a permanent signing.
Zaroury’s loan marked a positive milestone in his career, after his move to Lens from Burnley in the summer of 2024, he had an unexpected spell in France, where he struggled to establish himself as a regular starter.
The deal is reported to be worth around €3 million, with the Moroccan international set to sign a three-year contract with Panathinaikos, earning an estimated €1.2 million per year, alongside performance-related bonuses.
For Zaroury, the move offers stability and an opportunity to leave a mark in European football, in hope to develop even further and force his way into the Moroccan national team.
