Rabat – Morocco’s airports handled a total of 36.3 million passengers in 2025, marking an 11% increase compared to the previous year, Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh announced on Monday.
Speaking during the board meeting of the National Airports Office (ONDA), held in the presence of Director General Adel El Fakir, the minister attributed the growth primarily to strong international traffic, which reached 32.4 million passengers. Domestic travel also showed recovery, totaling 3.9 million passengers over the same period.
Aircraft movements rose by 9% to approximately 265,000, while air freight volumes approached 100,000 tons. The figures reinforce Morocco’s position as a key regional hub for air transport and logistics.
On the financial front, ONDA reported a turnover of MAD 5.8 billion ($630 million), up 9%, alongside a net profit of around MAD 1.3 billion ($141 million), representing a 16% increase.
Kayouh said the results reflect the office’s financial strength and its ability to sustain strategic investments despite rising costs linked to financing and infrastructure development.
“These results demonstrate the resilience of the Office and its capacity to maintain investment momentum in major projects,” the minister noted.
Kayouh also pointed to ongoing institutional reforms, particularly ONDA’s transition into a joint-stock company, describing the move as a crucial step toward improving managerial efficiency and strengthening governance practices.
He called for continued vigilance in maintaining financial balance and urged faster implementation of major infrastructure projects, in line with timelines and quality standards.
The meeting reviewed and approved ONDA’s 2025 financial accounts, assessed progress on the “Airports 2030” strategy, and examined the office’s action plan and budget for 2026.
Senior officials in attendance included representatives from the National Agency for the Strategic Management of State Holdings (ANGSPE), civil aviation authorities, and air transport administration.
