Rabat — Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport recorded a significant rise in passenger traffic during the first four months of 2026, welcoming 872,341 travelers by the end of April, according to figures released by Morocco’s National Airports Office (ONDA).
This marks an increase compared with 782,377 passengers during the same period last year, representing growth of 11.5% at the northern airport hub.
The data highlights a clear dominance of international traffic, with 799,357 passengers traveling on international routes, up 12.2% year-on-year. Domestic traffic also recorded growth, reaching 72,984 passengers, an increase of around 4%.
Airport operations followed a similar upward trend, with aircraft movements rising by 12.5% to 6,945 flights by the end of April 2026, compared with 6,170 during the same period in 2025.
In April alone, the airport handled 272,864 passengers, reflecting a 10.5% increase compared to 246,793 travelers recorded in April of the previous year.
At the national level, Morocco’s airports collectively processed 12.33 million passengers by the end of April 2026, marking an overall growth of 9.7%, according to ONDA.
On the other hand, the Marrakech-Menara Airport registered more than one million passengers by the end of April 2026, making it one of Morocco’s busiest air hubs and a key gateway for international tourism, according to the National Airports Office (ONDA).
This figure represented 1,016,169 passengers in the first four months of the year, which showed an increase of 8.42% compared to the previous year, which saw 937,260 passengers in the same period.
The sustained rise in traffic highlights the continued expansion of air travel in Morocco, with regional airports playing an increasingly important role in the country’s connectivity.
