Rabat – French President Emmanuel Macron praised Paris Saint-Germain’s latest Champions League success, calling the club “the biggest team in Europe” after welcoming the squad to the Élysée Palace following their historic European triumph.
PSG were received at the presidential palace after securing a second consecutive Champions League title, a win that further strengthens the club’s place among Europe’s elite.
The achievement sparked celebrations across Paris and gave the French capital another major football moment to celebrate.
Speaking to the players, coaching staff, and club officials, Macron highlighted the team’s composure, resilience, and discipline throughout their campaign.
“Everyone gave everything until the end. No one lost their nerves. You never gave up, you showed no sign of pressure, and you stayed calm until the final second,” Macron said during his address.
The French president described those qualities as the mark of a truly great team, adding that PSG’s back-to-back European success has changed the way the club is viewed across the continent.
“These are the qualities of a great team,” Macron said. “With this consecutive title, there is no doubt that Paris Saint-Germain is the biggest team in Europe.”
The statement comes at a defining moment for PSG, who have moved from years of chasing European glory to becoming the team others now have to chase.
After years of heavy expectations, painful exits, and constant questions about their ability to win on the biggest stage, the Parisian club has now built a winning identity under Luis Enrique.
Their latest triumph also shows the strength of French football at both club and international levels. PSG’s success has given France another major source of pride, while several French stars continue to play leading roles across Europe’s biggest clubs.
Macron also turned his attention to the French national team, saying he now expects Les Bleus to add a third star to their shirt.
“Now I expect our national team to add the third star,” Macron said. “There is no national team in the world with this much talent.”
France have already won the World Cup twice, in 1998 and 2018, and remain one of the strongest national teams in world football.
