Agadir – The Canadian metals mining company Aya Gold & Silver has announced new high-grade silver results from its Zgounder mine in Morocco.
“Aya Gold & Silver Inc. is pleased to announce high-grade silver drill results from its at-depth drill exploration program at the Zgounder Silver Mine in the Kingdom of Morocco,” the company said today in a press statement.
Recent drilling work at the site has intersected additional zones of strong mineralization, supporting the continuity of the deposit both at depth and within and around the current mining area, it noted.
The results form part of an ongoing exploration program aimed at extending the life of the mine and expanding its overall resource base.
“Today’s high-grade results continue to confirm the strong continuity of silver mineralization both around the open pit and within the central zone,” said Benoit La Salle, President and CEO of Aya Gold & Silver.
“Importantly, new intersections near the Western Fault continue to support the significant exploration potential to the west, where development of the exploration drift at the 1825-metre level is advancing ahead of planned drilling west of the fault in the second half of the year. In parallel, drilling along the granite contact continues to demonstrate encouraging high-grade continuity at depth,” he explained.
Aya Gold & Silver’s expansion in Morocco
The latest exploration update comes as Aya Gold & Silver advances a major expansion strategy in Morocco. The company is preparing a $500 million investment program through 2030, with the aim of increasing silver production and launching gold output for the first time.
CEO Benoit La Salle confirmed the investment plan in an interview with Asharq Business, revealing that Aya has already invested roughly $400 million in Morocco and is targeting first gold production by 2029 to consolidate a strategic diversification beyond its core silver operations.
Aya operates the Zgounder silver mine, located in Morocco’s Anti-Atlas mountains. The mine is the country’s second-largest silver operation after Imiter, which is owned by Moroccan mining group Managem.
