Agadir – Morocco received a trade mission bringing together 31 Egyptian companies from the food industry, printing, and packaging sectors, to expand commercial ties, identify market opportunities, and strengthen trade cooperation between the two countries.
The mission was organized by the Egyptian Food Export Council (FEC) in partnership with the Egyptian Embassy in Morocco, the Egyptian Commercial Representation Authority, Morocco’s National Food Safety Authority (ONSSA), and the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco (CFCIM).
“The mission includes 31 Egyptian companies representing the food industry and printing and packaging sectors, as part of efforts to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Egypt and Morocco,” the FEC said in a statement.
The visit also aims to explore opportunities for expansion in the Moroccan market and build new partnerships with importers, distributors and actors in the food sector,” FEC added.
During the sessions, Anas Lahlou Kassi, head of the Food Industries Department at Morocco’s Ministry of Industry and Trade, presented an overview of Morocco’s food industry and highlighted opportunities for bilateral trade cooperation.
Officials from ONSSA also briefed participants on health control regulations and food import requirements, while representatives from the Customs and Indirect Taxes Administration explained customs procedures and the use of existing trade agreements.
The program further included insights into Moroccan consumer preferences and distribution networks. Label’Vie Group presented trends shaping demand in the local market, while representatives of the Darb Omar traders’ federation discussed wholesale markets and distribution channels.
According to the FEC, Morocco represents an increasingly attractive destination for Egyptian food exports. “The importance of the Moroccan market as one of the strategic markets for Egyptian food exports is highlighted, as Morocco’s imports of food products amounted to about $9.6 billion in 2024, representing about 13% of the Kingdom’s total imports,” the council said.
The organization added that the figures reflect “the high demand for food products within the Moroccan market” and create opportunities to increase the market share of Egyptian products.
The mission’s agenda also includes field visits to major retail chains and commercial markets in Casablanca, enabling Egyptian companies to gain firsthand knowledge of market trends and consumer needs.
On Wednesday, participating firms are scheduled to hold bilateral business-to-business meetings with Moroccan importers and buyers to establish new commercial partnerships and boost Egyptian exports to Morocco.
