Rabat – Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Moroccan midfielder Ismael Saibari completed his medical with Bayern Munich “three days ago” while staying with Morocco’s squad in the United States. Romano added that an official announcement is expected in July.
The move follows weeks of reports linking the 24-year-old to Bayern Munich, with several outlets claiming the Bundesliga champions agreed a deal worth around €55 million (MAD 615 million) with PSV Eindhoven. If confirmed, the transfer would become one of the biggest sales in PSV history.
Saibari has been one of Morocco’s standout players in recent months and further raised his profile during the FIFA World Cup 2026. The midfielder scored against Brazil in Morocco’s opening group-stage clash and delivered one of the strongest performances on the pitch as the Atlas Lions secured a draw against the South American Giants.
Ahead of Morocco’s clash against Scotland, head coach Mohamed Ouahbi addressed the growing speculation surrounding Saibari’s future, insisting the player remains fully focused on the national team despite the attention surrounding a possible Bayern move.
“We are really proud when Moroccan players are able to play for big clubs like Bayern Munich,” Ouahbi said during Thursday’s press conference. “The player is very calm about it. He is concentrating on playing for Morocco.”
Ouahbi also referenced Bayern coach Vincent Kompany, saying he believes the Belgian understands that Morocco’s World Cup campaign currently takes priority over transfer formalities.
Saibari joined PSV’s senior setup after progressing through the Dutch club’s youth system and has since developed into one of Morocco’s most technically gifted midfielders.
His performance at the World Cup has only strengthened the growing belief that he is ready for Europe’s elite stage.
