Rabat- Ayyoub Bouaddi is on the list for the FIFA Young Player Award, which will be awarded to the World Cup’s best player born on or after 1 January 2005.Â
At just 18 years old, the Lille teenager delivered an outstanding performance in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, especially in his first match against Brazil, helping Morocco drive upfield and slice through Brazil’s midfield.Â
FIFA also celebrates Bouaddi’s intelligence as he completed his baccalaureate at 16 and is now pursuing a degree in mathematics. A cerebral player whose intelligence off the pitch directly elevates his performance on it.
The short list for the FIFA Young Player Award includes talents such as Lamine Yamal, Nico O’Reilly, and Desire Doué, players who are making the biggest impact in the 2026 FIFA World Cup and helping their countries all the way to the quarterfinals.
Born and raised in France, Bouaddi will face the Gallic Roosters on Thursday, July 9, at Boston Stadium, Foxborough, in a decisive clash that will determine which side advances to the semifinals.Â
This match revives memories of the last World Cup in Qatar, where Morocco became the first African and Arab nation to reach the semifinals before a painful defeat to France.
