Adam Qaroual, the Moroccan rising talent who joined La Masia in 2023 from PSV Eindhoven’s youth academy, is considered one of the most promising players in FC Barcelona’s youth setup. But after three years at the club, the 14-year-old has decided to leave La Masia, a move that has reportedly left the Catalan giants stunned.
Qaroual has already received several offers following the decision made by him and his family. His technical ability and distinctive playing style have drawn attention from those who have watched him closely, while his Afro hairstyle has also made him a popular figure on social media in recent years.
According to the Spanish outlet SPORT, Adam Qaroual will not continue at Barcelona after difficult years in which he reportedly felt he lacked support and backing of the Catalan club.
After mulling over the decision, Qaroual’s family has opted to leave Barça, with several important offers already on the table, including options to remain in Spain or move abroad.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Portuguese super-agent Jorge Mendes, who already manages several stars, Lamine Yamal, Ansu Fati, Alejandro Balde, and Guille Fernández, has been seen close to the young La Masia gem on Instagram.
Despite FIFA regulations, which do not allow players to sign a contract with an agent until six months before reaching the legal age – 16 in Spain – Mendes, according to Mundo Deportivo, “is already advising the family.” The agent has also gifted the young player a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey, among other gestures.
Under Mendes’ guidance, Adam is expected to have a bright future, following in the footsteps of other young talents who have developed under the super-agent’s influence.
His departure evokes memories of the bitter exit of the former Barça talent Xavi Simons to PSG, sparking debate among Barcelona supporters over why the club continues to lose promising La Masia talents.
