Rabat – The clash between France and Morocco on Thursday attracted 16 million viewers on M6, according to Mediametrie, marking one of the channel’s strongest performances in decades.
The match, which aired at 9 p.m., still managed to capture an audience share of 72.8%, meaning that over seven in ten viewers watching television at the time tuned in to the game.
According to Midi Libre, M6 holds exclusive free-to-air rights to the World Cup in France, alongside pay broadcaster BeIN Sports. Since the tournament kicked off on June 11th, the competition has delivered consistently strong ratings, with France’s matches driving particularly high viewership.
“It’s historic in the full sense of the word. Never, in thirty-nine years, had M6 had such a high week, even beating the ‘Loft Story’ period,” said Guillaume Charles, director of channels and content at the M6 group.
On the pitch, France secured a 2-0 victory over Morocco at Boston Stadium, booking a place in the semifinals, where they will face either Spain or Belgium.
