Marrakech – Spain’s National Police have arrested four suspected jihadists in Madrid, Barcelona, Ceuta, and Toledo. The suspects face charges of indoctrination, self-training, and glorification of terrorism linked to ISIS, also known as Daesh, as reported Friday by Spain’s news agency EFE.

The four, described as young and highly radicalized, had fully embraced the terrorist organization’s ideology, according to the Interior Ministry. They maintained connections through social media and repeatedly posted content in support of global violent jihad.

Among those detained was a woman in Toledo who had expressed her firm intention to travel to conflict zones controlled by ISIS in the Middle East. She had recently purchased a plane ticket to Turkiye, a country commonly used as a transit point to reach those areas. Investigators moved quickly to arrest her before she could leave. A judge ordered her held in prison.

The investigation, led by the General Information Commissariat (CGI), determined that all four showed high-intensity radicalization indicators. They used their social media profiles to access online propaganda and training platforms run by ISIS. Authorities said the suspects demonstrated full indoctrination and glorification capacity.

Officers searched three homes during the operation. They seized computer equipment, phones, and various documents, now under analysis.

The operation involved provincial information brigades from Valencia, Alicante, Toledo, Barcelona, and Ceuta. It was overseen by Spain’s National Court and its prosecution office.

Earlier this week, Morocco’s Central Bureau of Judicial Investigations (BCIJ) dismantled a cell linked to ISIS’s Sahel branch. Ten suspects, including a minor and a former terrorism convict, were arrested across seven cities.

Authorities confirmed the cell had been planning attacks at an advanced stage. In a warehouse in Inezgane, near Agadir, investigators found a modified SUV, gas cylinders, pressure cookers, welding equipment, and chemical substances. Bladed weapons, military uniforms, and digital devices were also seized.

The suspects had allegedly pledged allegiance to the ISIS leader and received direct orders from the group’s Sahel branch to carry out attacks inside Morocco.

The UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, and the Arab Parliament condemned the foiled plots and expressed their solidarity with Morocco.
