Rabat– Morocco’s national football team is scheduled to arrive at Rabat-Salé Airport at 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, following its FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) announced in a statement.
The Atlas Lions will return from Boston, United States, after competing in the tournament co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Morocco reached the quarterfinals, delivering another strong World Cup performance that reaffirmed its status among the world’s top footballing nations. The FRMF praised the team’s campaign, highlighting its consistent performances and competitive spirit throughout the tournament.
The federation also noted that Morocco was the only African and Arab nation to reach the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, the first edition to feature 48 teams, finishing among the tournament’s final eight nations.
Morocco also recorded its highest-scoring FIFA World Cup campaign to date, netting 11 goals in six matches, the most the Atlas Lions have ever scored in a single edition of the tournament.
Their 3-0 victory over Canada in the Round of 16 marked another milestone, making Morocco the first African nation to score three goals in a World Cup knockout match.
The win also made the Atlas Lions the only African team to secure regulation-time victories in the knockout stages of two consecutive World Cups, without needing extra time or penalties. It further extended Morocco’s outstanding form, with the national team stringing together 19 consecutive wins across all competitions and qualifiers during the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
With the team’s return to Morocco, attention is now turning to the reception awaiting the Atlas Lions. Many fans are wondering whether the national team will receive a large public welcome or an official royal reception, similar to the celebrations held after Morocco’s historic 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar.
No official announcement has yet been made regarding any reception or ceremony for the returning delegation.
