Casablanca – Morocco’s General Directorate of National Security has started field operations with its new smart patrol vehicles, “Aman” and “Madar,” in Rabat.
The rollout began this week as part of a gradual deployment plan. According to the DGSN, the vehicles will also begin operating in Casablanca and Tangier in the coming days before being expanded to other major cities and police headquarters across the country.
The two vehicles were first presented to the public during the seventh edition of the DGSN Open Days, held in Rabat in May. The event, which marked the DGSN’s 70th anniversary, showcased the institution’s latest technology, equipment, and security innovations, with “Aman” and “Madar” drawing particular attention.
“Aman” was designed and developed entirely by the DGSN’s engineering and technical teams. The vehicle is equipped with a 360-degree camera system linked to automatic license plate recognition and real-time facial recognition technology.

The system uses artificial intelligence to carry out instant visual checks while the vehicle is on patrol. It is also connected directly to command and coordination centers through a large screen inside the vehicle, allowing information to be shared with field units in real time. The DGSN says the system is designed to support traffic management and crime prevention.
Alongside it, the DGSN has introduced “Madar,” a mobile smart surveillance platform that can transform standard police vehicles into advanced monitoring units using the same artificial intelligence technology.
Its emergency light bar, produced using 3D printing, includes high-resolution cameras capable of monitoring fast-moving vehicles across six traffic lanes at the same time. A central panoramic camera completes a full rotation in less than three seconds to eliminate blind spots. The vehicle also includes integrated emergency lights behind the windshield and inside the front bumper for better visibility during operations.
Both vehicles feature a new visual identity, GPS tracking, and direct access to the DGSN’s central database through an integrated police terminal. Their deployment follows the completion of development, field testing, and training for the police officers assigned to operate them. According to the DGSN, the new vehicles are part of its ongoing efforts to modernize police operations and public services.
