Casablanca – Moroccan midfielder Mohamed Rabie Hrimat has officially completed his move to Qatar Stars League side Al Shamal, bringing the curtain down on a memorable five-year spell with AS FAR.
Al Shamal confirmed the signing on Thursday, announcing that Hrimat will strengthen the club’s first team ahead of the new season.
The Qatari side added that the 31-year-old will immediately join the squad’s pre-season training camp in the Netherlands as preparations continue for the upcoming campaign.
The move comes shortly after Hrimat bid an emotional farewell to AS FAR, describing his departure as one of the most difficult moments of his career.
“After the beautiful years I spent with the team of my heart, the time has come to say goodbye,” Hrimat wrote in a message shared on his official Instagram account. “It is one of the hardest words for a player who became attached to this shirt, its supporters and its great history.”
Hrimat joined the Rabat-based club in November 2020 and gradually established himself as one of the team’s most influential figures before eventually being named captain.
During his time at AS FAR, the midfielder played a key role in the club’s resurgence, helping lift the 2020–21 Throne Cup before captaining the military side to the 2022–23 Botola Pro title, ending a 15-year wait for the league championship.
“I did not hold back a single drop of sweat, and I spared no effort in defending the club on and off the pitch with pride, honesty and loyalty,” Hrimat said, while thanking the club’s supporters, management, coaching staff and teammates.
The Rabat native now embarks on his first professional experience outside Morocco after reportedly agreeing to a two-year contract with Al Shamal, with an option for a third season.
Hrimat arrives in Qatar following a series of standout performances on the international stage. He was named Best Player of the 2024 African Nations Championship after helping Morocco lift the title and later claimed the Golden Ball at the 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, where the Atlas Lions also emerged as champions.
Despite beginning a new chapter abroad, Hrimat made it clear that his connection with AS FAR remains intact.
“Today, I open a new page in my sporting career and begin a new experience, but I leave carrying priceless memories and great love for this club and its supporters,” he wrote.
“I sincerely hope that AS FAR continues winning titles, making its supporters happy and remaining in the position it deserves among the biggest clubs.”
