Rabat – Real Madrid has taken a major step toward signing Spanish midfielder Rodri, with the player reportedly agreeing to all personal terms as negotiations with Manchester City continue over the structure and value of the deal.
According to journalist Matteo Moretto, Rodri has already reached a full agreement with the Spanish giants on the terms of his contract, including its duration and salary. The agreement signals the midfielder’s willingness to begin a new chapter at the Santiago Bernabéu.
But the transfer has not yet been finalized, as Real Madrid and Manchester City are still working to reach an agreement on the transfer fee and payment structure.
Manchester City is reportedly determined to secure what it considers a fair valuation for one of its most influential players, while Madrid is aiming to negotiate terms that satisfy both clubs before completing the move.
Neither Real Madrid nor Manchester City has officially commented on the reported negotiations, leaving the deal pending until a final agreement is reached.
Why Rodri?
Rodri, widely regarded as one of the world’s best defensive midfielders, has been a cornerstone of Manchester City’s success since joining from Atlético Madrid in 2019. During his time at the Etihad Stadium, he has helped Pep Guardiola’s side win multiple Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, the FA Cup, and the FIFA Club World Cup, establishing himself as one of the club’s most indispensable players.
If the transfer goes through, Rodri would add world-class experience and tactical intelligence to Real Madrid’s midfield, strengthening a squad that continues to evolve following the departures of important midfielders in recent seasons. For now, however, the deal remains dependent on the two clubs finding common ground on the financial terms.
