The uncertainty surrounding Vinicius Jr.’s contract had given Arsenal genuine hope of making a move. Negotiations had dragged on for months, with both sides struggling to agree on his salary.
However, things have now taken a turn, with José Mourinho reportedly playing a key role in getting talks back on track. The new Real Madrid manager is said to be determined to keep the Brazilian at the club.
Vini was expected to become the highest-paid player at Arsenal, earning €550,000 per week, surpassing Bukayo Saka as Arsenal’s highest earner.
Real Madrid are facing financial pressure as they continue to pursue Yan Diomande, but reports suggest José Mourinho remains fully committed to keeping Vinicius Jr. The Portuguese manager is believed to be building his new-look side around Vinicius, Kylian Mbappé, and Jude Bellingham, making it highly unlikely that the Brazilian will be allowed to leave.
According to The Week, Mourinho seems unwilling to part ways with Vinicius Jr., even if it means losing both Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouaméni.
Vinicius joined Real Madrid in 2018 and has become one of its legends since then, registering more than 125 goals in 372 appearances with the club.
Vinicius Junior has been a key part of Real Madrid’s Champions League success, winning the trophy twice and scoring in both finals against Liverpool in 2022 and Borussia Dortmund in 2024.
