Rabat – Italy has suspended the application of the European Union’s Schengen free-travel regime with Spain following mass migration attempts into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta, marking a dramatic escalation in tensions over migration policy in Europe.
The decision comes after an estimated 60,000 entered Ceuta from Morocco within the past 24 hours, prompting heightened security measures on both sides of the border and sparking a diplomatic dispute between Madrid and Rome.
