Rabat – AC Milan are reportedly monitoring Moroccan international Zakaria El Ouahdi as they look to strengthen the right side of their defense ahead of the new season.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, the Genk full-back has emerged as one of the names under consideration should Zachary Athekame complete his expected move to Olympique Lyonnais.
The report states that Milan are evaluating several options for the position, but El Ouahdi’s profile has attracted particular interest following his consistent performances in Belgium.
The 24-year-old enjoyed an impressive 2025–26 campaign with Genk, combining defensive solidity with significant attacking output. Across all competitions, he made 43 appearances, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists.
In the Belgian pro league alone, El Ouahdi registered eight goals and four assists in 34 league matches, establishing himself as one of the division’s most productive attacking defenders.
Known for his pace and ability to contribute in the final third, the Moroccan defender is reportedly viewed as a player capable of fitting Milan’s tactical requirements on the right flank.
El Ouahdi remains under contract with Genk until June 2028, with reports valuing him between €13 million and €15 million.
At international level, the defender was part of Morocco’s squad at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, making one appearance after coming on as a late substitute for Anass Salah-Eddine during the Atlas Lions’ quarterfinal defeat to France.
Neither AC Milan nor Genk has officially commented on the reported interest.
