Rabat – FIFA President Gianni Infantino has highlighted Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi after the teenager etched his name into World Cup history during Morocco’s run at the 2026 tournament.
In a post shared on Instagram, Infantino drew attention to Bouaddi’s historic achievement, noting that the 18-year-old became the youngest player to feature in a FIFA World Cup quarter-final since Brazilian legend Pelé when he appeared against France.
“Ayyoub Bouaddi created history when he took the pitch against France, becoming the youngest player to feature in a FIFA World Cup quarter-final since the legendary Pelé,” Infantino wrote.
“Congratulations Ayyoub on a special achievement on football’s greatest stage!” he added.
Bouaddi emerged as one of Morocco’s standout performers during the 2026 FIFA World Cup, earning widespread recognition for his composure and maturity in midfield despite his age.
The Lille midfielder’s performances have also attracted interest from several European clubs, with Manchester City reportedly leading the race for his signature.
Infantino’s post adds to the growing international recognition surrounding Bouaddi, whose performances with the Atlas Lions have established him as one of Morocco’s most exciting young football talents.
