Rabat – Wydad president Ibrahim El Assri is expected to meet with members of the club’s medical staff on Monday to hear from all sides and examine the circumstances surrounding the recent disagreement with Ziyech.
According to Almounatakhab, the dispute does not stem from any professional shortcomings by the medical staff, which is working according to the club’s established procedures. Instead, it reportedly comes down mainly to differences in approach and communication, with Ziyech preferring a specific method of medical follow-up.
The disagreement escalated to the point where the Moroccan international refused to work with the club’s current medical team. This prompted Wydad’s management to intervene directly in an effort to prevent the situation from affecting the player’s preparations or the atmosphere within the squad.
Ziyech had previously expressed his dissatisfaction with the club’s decision to part ways with doctor Mehdi Idrissi, who left Wydad to join the medical staff of French club Le Havre. The Moroccan star reportedly preferred to continue working with the previous medical team.
The same sources indicate that Ziyech had also asked the club’s management to reconsider the composition of the medical staff. Wydad, however, decided to continue with its current team.
El Assri’s intervention aims to put the disagreement behind the club and find a compromise that ensures Ziyech receives the medical care he requires while avoiding internal tensions that could affect Wydad’s preparations and stability ahead of the upcoming season.
