Casablanca – A 19-year-old man was found dead Thursday at the foot of a mountain between the Ighlal El Foukani and Moukni villages located within the Beni Zoli commune in the Zagora Province, according to local reports.
The young man had reportedly gone missing under unclear circumstances, prompting his family and several residents of the area to launch an extensive search for him.
His body was eventually found at the foot of the mountain, after which local authorities and Royal Gendarmerie officers were notified and went to the scene.
Authorities took the necessary legal and procedural measures and opened an investigation under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
Initial information indicated that the young man may have fallen from a mountainous height, but the cause and circumstances of his death have not yet been established.
His body was transferred to a morgue to undergo a medical autopsy aimed at determining the exact cause of death. Field investigations are also continuing as authorities collect information related to the incident.
The death has left the young man’s family and residents of the area in shock and mourning, as they await the results of the investigation into what happened.
