Agadir – Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is set to further expand and modernize its fleet with the arrival of a new Boeing 737 MAX-8, registered CN-RHR, bringing the carrier’s fleet to more than 69 aircraft, including those operated by its regional subsidiary RAM Express.

The upcoming delivery marks another step in the Moroccan flag carrier’s ongoing fleet expansion, as it strengthens the presence of the Boeing 737 MAX-8 across its short- and medium-haul network.

The aircraft will be the 18th Boeing 737 MAX-8 delivered to RAM and the 45th Boeing single-aisle aircraft in the airline’s fleet, according to the information provided on the upcoming delivery.

The latest addition is expected to reinforce RAM’s capacity on high-density routes linking Morocco with destinations in Europe, West Africa, and the Middle East, while providing passengers with the improved cabin experience associated with the newer-generation aircraft.

RAM’s fleet expansion comes as the airline continues to implement an ambitious development strategy. In July 2023, the Moroccan government and RAM signed a 2023-2037 program contract aimed at transforming the carrier into a global airline and expanding its fleet to 200 aircraft by 2037.

The plan also targets a significant expansion of RAM’s international network. The airline has previously outlined plans to increase the number of destinations it serves to 143 by 2037, while strengthening connections between Morocco, Africa, Europe, the Americas, Asia, and the Middle East.

The national carrier has already accelerated its network expansion, with new direct routes launched or announced to several international destinations, including Beijing, São Paulo, Los Angeles, Manchester, Saint Petersburg, and N’Djamena.

The strategy is also aligned with Morocco’s broader ambitions to strengthen its aviation infrastructure and position Casablanca as a major international air hub. The African Development Bank (AfDB) has noted that RAM’s planned expansion to 200 aircraft by 2037 will require significant adaptation of Morocco’s airport infrastructure, including major capacity increases at key airports.
