Safi – Liverpool and Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement in principle over the transfer of France forward Bradley Barcola, The Athletic reported.
The package is worth €140 million (£120 million). More than £100 million of that sum is guaranteed.
Personal terms have been outlined, and a long-term contract framework is in place. The paperwork remains incomplete, and Barcola must pass a medical before the Premier League transfer deadline on September 1.
The fee would make Barcola the most expensive player ever sold by a Ligue 1 club. It would surpass the €100 million Manchester City agreed with Lille this month for Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi. It would also become PSG’s biggest sale, ahead of the €90 million Al Hilal paid for Neymar.
PSG initially valued the 23-year-old at about €170 million, French outlet Foot Mercato noted. Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes led the negotiations that brought the price down.
Barcola refused a contract extension in late July, when two years remained on his deal. He has since been left out of PSG matchday squads.
The forward joined from Lyon in 2023 and won the Champions League in each of the last two seasons, though he started neither final. According to Foot Mercato, that limited role in the club’s biggest matches drove his decision to seek a transfer.
Neither club has announced the deal. Liverpool’s official website has covered the reports only in its media roundup.
