Agadir – Voter turnout in Morocco’s September 23 legislative election reached 11.34% nationwide by noon, as millions of registered voters continued casting ballots to elect members of the House of Representatives.
The Ministry of Interior said voting was proceeding under normal conditions across the country as of 12 p.m., based on information received from prefectures, provinces, and district prefectures.
Polling stations remain open as voters choose representatives who will serve in the lower house of Parliament for the next legislative term.
The 2026 legislative election is the 12th parliamentary election held in Morocco since independence. Voters are electing all 395 members of the House of Representatives, with 305 seats allocated to local electoral districts and 90 to regional electoral districts.
The final electoral rolls contain 15,801,162 registered voters, according to figures published by the government ahead of the election.
Men account for 54% of registered voters, while women represent 46%. Urban residents make up 55% of those registered, compared with 45% from rural areas.
The age distribution also shows that voters aged 60 and above account for more than 29% of registered voters. Those aged 25 to 34 represent 15%, while young voters aged 18 to 24 account for 4%.
